ZOG Clothing
Harnessing the power of social media, I saw a Level 6 fashion student was interested in collaborating with a Graphic Designer for a look book and identity for her final collection. In the post, she mentioned how Harrison Park from Level 6 photography would be photographing, and he is somebody I really want to work with whilst still having the chance. Specialising in fashion photography, Harrison has a multitude of contacts including models, stylists and other creatives, and I would love to get to know/be added to that list. To get involved, I messaged her after seeing the post and jumped on the chance to create a full identity for her, hopefully collaborating with Harrison in the process. Facebook has been a great tool as the notifications come through 24/7, allowing more instant communication where ideas can be shared.
Zoe liked my work and asked me to create an identity for her as a designer. She currently has an Instagram under Zoe L, but wants to get away from using her name, in favour of a shorter, snappier brand name.
Zoe's work is extremely playful but political, making a social comment on gender and the connotations one bears with clothing. The excessive connotations of gender stereotypes resinate through the material and design of the garments, showing a cross over between womenswear and menswear and a real gender fluidity. The appropriation of classically gender orientated items (e.g.: suspenders, pink fluffy material) have been stripped of their preconceived meaning and redistributed as a gender fluid object. The collection name 's/He' references this gender fluidity, highlighting how barriers in gender stereotyping need to be broken and fashion is all about expression of identity. s/He harnesses the predetermined audience perceptions, questioning the pieces just as you would a piece of artwork of Graphic Design.
To highlight the political aspect of the work, I want to keep the identity quite ambiguous yet highlight Zoe's personality somehow by compositional or formal qualities.
After discussing a possible direction for the brand, Zoe messaged me again saying there was more requirements but this would then turn into a paid job. This is the first paid design job I will be partaking in, so I'm really excited and ambitious to create something fit for purpose fulfilling Zoe's hopes! Zoe also creates womenswear clothing to sell for years, so is asking me to also create an identity for that to, featuring under the name Zoe Zogg Clothing/ @ZZC...
This would require
-Business cards
-Labels
-Promotional's
@ZZC / ZoeZogClothing

I thought it would be a good idea to meet up with Zoe prior to designing, to get a full flavour of what she is after, the intentions for both brands and if I'm on the right lines with the current business cards I have done for her final collection. Feedback has been something I've lacked in some modules yet I do realise how important and beneficial is is towards my practice.
I meet with Zoe to find out more about the brand and brands individual ambitions. ZZ Clothing (ZZC) has been established for 4 years, building up a client base and is providing fast fashion. ZOG is a higher end brand, costing more to manufacture and more timely to make. After graduating Zoe plans to focus on ZZC, turning this into a more established brand to provide her a bread and butter income. She has repeat custom, but no website or mailing list, currently selling via depop.

Brief: Rebrand ZZC Womenswear to appeal to the fast moving audience she is targeting, increasing brand recognition and incorporating aspects of personality.
Immediate Deliverables (17th May 2017): Business cards, clothing labels, clothing tags, bags/packaging,
Long term (over the summer): Website, Online order packaging, invoices, email system for orders and templates, Online social media content- photoshoot.
This will require me to start thinking larger scale, as well as finding a coder to help with the construction of the website.
